The Sound of Sunday on HRB

SOS Summer Show

The Sound of Sunday Summer Show returned after a 19 year absence in August 2020 for 4 weeks and then for a 3 week run in 2021.

The original concept was to present a month of shows from out and about at events around the Basingstoke area, promoting those events and others going on during the summer.  The idea was a revival of something we last did in 2001.

As we couldn’t do that though it was a chance to go back through the archives and remember things we’ve done before during the summer.  Both the Froyle Fete and the Alton Party in the Park would have been part of the series, and we were looking at other events that we had not been to before featuring for the rest of the run.  We were planning to go to the Alton Classic Car Show in September and record a show that would have gone out on New Year’s Day and there’s always room to remember London 2012.

Hopefully the highlights we’ve picked jogged some happy memories of previous summers.

In August 2021, we were able to talk more about what was going in Basingstoke and Alton during the summer – as there was actually things going on.

We remembered highlights from the past of events covered in Odiham, Alton and Basingstoke including the Basingstoke Transport Festival and Odiham Church Fete, and then for our final show on 29 August we were finally able to out and about and present the show from the Alton Liosn Party in the Park which was held a couple of weeks before.

We returned in 2022 for 3 more shows including a show recorded at the summer fete of Cherry Blossom Manor care home in Bramley.
